It’s easy to focus on being overweight and the effect on your health. However, being underweight can also be unhealthy.
Some people are underweight because there is a restriction in their diet – which puts them at risk from a number of nutritional deficiencies.
 
For example, lack of iron can cause anemia, especially in young women. Too little calcium can cause osteoporosis when a woman ages. In addition to this, underweight women commonly suffer from missed menstruation or amenorrhea, which can ultimately lead to infertility.
